Greetings from the Fairfax Diapers Team!
During this season of Thanks and Giving, we wanted to reach out to thank you for your support of our work over these last five months. To date we have distributed over 46,000 diapers to families in need in Fairfax County! In November alone, we provided 11,000 diapers for 294 babies through Food for Others.
Research shows that one third of families with young children in the US experience diaper need and on average those families are 19 diapers short each month. This is the gap we are trying to close through our work and your support has made this possible.
We have recently partnered with the Fairfax County Health Department to provide a monthly supply for the visiting nurses who visit at-risk moms and babies throughout the county. While our supply does not come close to meeting the needs of the 300 families they visit, we hope to expand our support in the coming months.
We have all been so amazed by the encouragement, kindness and generosity of this community! From the kids running drives at their pools and schools and parents' workplaces, to the amazing members of social4good, to the people who anonymously drop packages of diapers on my doorstep, to the incredibly generous financial contributors, and to the volunteers at Food for Others ~ THANK YOU SO MUCH!
